Christina Jackson is an urban sociologist whose work examines how structural inequities and social determinants of health shape maternal health outcomes in U.S. cities. Centering the experiences of Black mothers in Trenton, NJ, Dr. Jackson uses community-based participatory research to reveal how housing, economic insecurity, neighborhood conditions, and access to care intersect to influence health and well-being. Her research builds bridges between communities and institutions, advancing strategies that strengthen trusted support networks and inform equitable policies. By amplifying the lived experiences of urban families, Dr. Jackson contributes to reshaping maternal health systems toward equity and justice.
