Arné Burns is passionate about supporting the public health workforce. She holds a Master of Public Health and dual bachelor’s degrees in Public Health and Biological Sciences from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®). As Health Education and Training Specialist at the Illinois Public Health Association, she leads statewide professional development initiatives and serves as the primary planner for her organization’s annual conference, helping individuals connect, learn, and grow in their careers. She also teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, bringing real-world public health experience into the classroom to help students see how theory informs practice. She is dedicated to empowering both the next generation of public health professionals and those already working in the field to build connections, foster collaborations, and prepare to make a positive impact in their communities. Outside of work, you can find Arné getting lost in her personal library of books and keeping her bags packed for her next travel adventure.
