Dr. Shelby Flores-Thorpe is a Postdoctoral Fellow at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Austin through the NCI Cancer Control Research Training Program. She works on the Texas Research-to-Policy Collaboration Project, connecting researchers and state legislators to promote data-driven policymaking. She earned her PhD from UTHealth Houston in 2024, focusing on researcher–legislator communication. Dr. Flores-Thorpe is also a Visiting Professor at New Mexico State University’s Global Campus. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, she has called Texas home for 15 years and holds a Master’s in Health Education from Texas State University and a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from St. Edward’s University.
