Michael Gibson, MPH, is a Disease Investigator at the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment and the recipient of the 2026 SOPHE Health Education Technology Innovation Award. He is the creator of "Health Lotería," a culturally-responsive, data-driven intervention that demonstrated a measurable 87% increase in institutional trust. Michael’s public health background includes service as a Disease Intervention Specialist for the Wyandotte County Health Department and a Death Investigator for the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office. He holds an MPH in Infectious Diseases and Zoonoses from Kansas State University and a B.S. in Biology and Health Science from Truman State University. Michael is an avid swing dancer and contributes to his community through local mutual aid.
