Shannon Phelps, PhD, CHES, is an Associate Professor of Health Studies at Berea College in Kentucky with more than 20 years of experience as an educator, curriculum designer, and trainer. She holds degrees in elementary and special education, human sexuality education, and health education, reflecting her deep commitment to inclusive, student-centered learning. At Berea, Dr. Phelps teaches health education and co-created a peer health education program focused on sexual health. Trained in trauma-informed mindfulness and certified as a yoga instructor, she integrates holistic practices into teaching and service. Her scholarship explores college health curriculum design, sexual health communication, and peer education.
