Graduate Research Assistant
University of Mississippi
Oxford, Mississippi, United States
Dylan Barker is a Master of Public Health student in Epidemiology at the University of Mississippi and a Graduate Assistant with the Institute of Child Nutrition Data Analytics Lab. His work centers on rural health disparities, environmental health, and the application of data-driven methods to inform public health practice and policy in the Deep South. Dylan is the recipient of the inaugural Stamps Impact Prize for leading the University of Mississippi Clean Air Project, which implemented Corsi–Rosenthal Boxes and environmental health education in local schools. This work has since scaled into a statewide initiative, Clean Air and Learning Mississippi (C.A.L.M.), focused on improving indoor air quality and STEM-aligned public health education in Mississippi schools.
Through his MPH training, Dylan has leveraged epidemiologic, geospatial, and program evaluation methods to examine social and structural determinants of health, including community resilience, chronic disease, HIV, and access to healthcare and digital infrastructure. He has contributed to multiple research manuscripts, technical reports, and conference presentations at the state and national levels. Dylan’s professional interests lie at the intersection of public health data analytics, implementation science, and health equity, with a long-term goal of advancing evidence-based solutions for underserved and rural communities through applied public health leadership.
