Andrew Lafrenz, PhD, MPH, MCHES is the Associate Dean for Pre-Health Professions, the Director of the Public Health and Wellness Program and an Associate Professor at the University of Portland. Andrew has an M.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Georgia and an M.P.H. and Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Public Health from Oregon State University. He completed a postdoc fellowship in Epidemiology with the CDC where he was stationed in Wyoming to work in maternal and child health epidemiology for the Wyoming Department of Health.
His scholarship focuses on community-based research in the areas of maternal and child health as well as more recently, environmental health and the role of green spaces on the health of communities. For the past 5 years, he has served as the County Epidemiologist for the Columbia County Public Health Department and as an elected official serving as a City Councilor for the City of Scappoose in Oregon.
